In-The-Canal: Left Ear

Instructions for Putting In-The-Canal (ITC) SpeechEasyTM
in the LEFT EAR and Battery Insertion

* Replacement batteries are size 312 and can be purchased in any pharmacy.
* When not using the unit, open the battery door so power is not used.

To put the battery in the SpeechEasyTM:
1. Gently swing open the battery door.
2. Lay the battery onto the door with the flat side up.
3. Gently close the battery door.

For inserting the unit into your ear canal:
1. Insert battery according to the instructions above.
2. Set unit on table top with the blue tipped end pointing to the right and the volume wheel at the top. When the unit is in this position, turn the wheel towards you to turn the volume all the way down. It is best to insert the unit into your ear after you have the volume turned all the way down to avoid a squeal.
3. Insert the unit into your left ear keeping in it in the position it was on the table top. That is, when it is in your ear the volume wheel is at the top (closest to the ceiling). Try to get a nice seal of the unit into your ear.
4. Now that the unit is in your ear with the volume turned all the way down, reach up with one finger and find the volume wheel. Slowly turn the wheel toward your face while counting until you reach a comfortable loudness level. If you experience a squeal, turn the volume all the way down again and make sure the device is seated well in the ear and repeat the process. Once you find a comfortable yet effective loudness level, there is nothing else you need to do until you take it out.
5. Before removing it from your ear, turn the volume all the way down (turn knob in a direction toward the back of your head). Then remove the device from your ear. Always have the volume all the way down when putting it in and taking it out.

Completely-In-The-Canal

Instructions for Putting in the Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC)
SpeechEasyTM and Battery Insertion

Practice putting the unit in your ear WITHOUT PUTTING THE BATTERY IN FIRST. Practice it over and over until you can get the unit in and out in a few seconds without fumbling. Try it later with the battery in the unit. If you do not get it in within a few seconds you will experience a loud squeal, which you want to avoid on any consistent basis. If you have trouble doing that, you may be able to get the unit in with the battery door opened a bit. You can then close it after the unit is seated in your ear. Of course, you remove it by grabbing onto the "fishing line" with the little bead at the end.

To put the battery in the SpeechEasyTM:
1. Gently swing open the battery door.
2. Lay the battery onto the door with the flat side up.
3. Gently close the battery door.

* Replacement batteries are size 10 and can be purchased in any pharmacy.
* When not using the unit, open the battery door so power is not used.
